I was asked a while back if I would mind conducting a tutorial on a subject I have not really taken an interest in for a long time now. They had nobody else to do it, so I agreed.
The tutorial relates to a subject that has changed a lot in the last couple of years, so I have had to do a “crash course” so I understand it before I teach it!
Because of this, I am a little uncertain as to whether my knowledge will be sufficient to answer the questions asked of me, however this is how I look at the situation:
If they ask me a question and I don’t know the answer, I will note the question down and get back to them with an answer once I have found it myself.
My other option is to make something up, but you can imagine how silly that would make me look!
We all can’t know everything about everything – everybody knows that! So if you’re in a similar situation, do what you can to get your head around the subject and if you have some questions you can’t answer, it’s not the end of the world – you can get back to them with an answer later.
I am heading off now, to do some study! 🙂
