I’m as inconsistent as they come when it comes to exercise or eating programs, and while I’m not “overweight” as such (I’m a skinny, fat person), I’m carrying more fat than I should. Because I’m tall, it’s harder to tell that I am carrying this excess fat, but I know it’s there!
I have tried sooo many programs and many of them worked – until I stopped following them!
Yet again I’ve found myself trying to find a way to keep me accountable, because clearly I suck!
I’ve been searching, and I have the many recipe books from Juice Plus+ to help me with my eating plans (these are actually really great and some of the recipes are sooooo yummy!), and I have various fitness programs downloaded to help me with my workouts. But here I am, posting here, telling you that I suck, because I clearly have all of the tools I need, but I’m not using them!
So last week my parents told me about a weight loss program they’ve recently been told about. A good friend of theirs has lost a lot of weight and her health has improved significantly, along with her energy levels.
My issue of late has been my energy, so of course I was intrigued.
There’s a lot more to this program, but I’m not going to talk about the program itself today, because there’s a specific part of this program that caught my eye, because it’s going to bring me the accountability I need! I hope!!
This aspect of the program is called the 10k Pledge. The 10k Pledge is about walking 10,000 steps every single day, and I’m kept accountable thanks to my Garmin watch (there are other activity trackers that link to the 10k Pledge) and my 10k Pledge app on my phone.
What I’m also doing is posting this on social media, so those around me know what I’m doing. Yet another way to keep my accountability up!
Yesterday I learned the hard way that if I’m not active throughout the day, I’m left with a whole lot of steps to do after dinner – over 7,000 steps in fact! I was working from home, I didn’t get up and walk around much, and I didn’t take myself outside into the fresh air. Granted it was raining for part of the day, but there were opportunities to move, and I didn’t take them. So I paid the price.
The good news is that I did eventually achieve 10,000 steps after walking many laps of my house, but a walk to the park would have been so much more enjoyable as you can see by my photo posted here – this is who greets me on my walks that happen outside of my house!
