The STAR technique is used where the question requires the interviewee to provide an actual example from their work or life experience. The questions will start with words such as, “Tell me about a time when…” or “Give me an example of when…”.
I have found from personal experience that a great way to answer is by using the STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) technique as follows:
Situation – Talk about a particular situation that relates to the question.
Task – What was your role in relation to this situation?
Action – What action did you take (be specific but don’t drag it on).
Result – What was the result of the action you took?
Have a great day!
