I remember several years ago I was dating a guy and a teeny tiny inner voice was telling me “He’s not the one!”. Of course I ignored it, and I ended up getting dumped. This happened three more times before I finally got it! I didn’t realise this teeny inner voice was my intuition trying to tell me something the whole time!
I would have saved myself sooo much time and heartache if only I had listened, but here we are!
The thing is, I didn’t realise until much later that my intuition was talking to me. For some time after this, I still didn’t quite trust that I was tuning into my intuition and not into my old programming.
So how do I tell the difference between my intuition and my old programming?
Tuning into your intuition is surprisingly easier than it sounds, and today I’m going to teach you how to do it using a random, not-so-important scenario, so it doesn’t matter if you get it wrong. Just be aware of where the message is coming from – is it love based or fear based (in other words, does it feel good and light, or dark and heavy)? If it’s love based, you’re on the right track! If it’s fear based, then your old programming is still getting in the way. Here’s the thing… everybody does what they do to either avoid pain or to gain pleasure. If your motive is to avoid pain, I’m guessing you’ll be fear based. If you’re looking to attain pleasure, then you’re more likely coming from a place of love.
Before you begin to practise tuning into your intuition, set the intention that you will be “rewarded” every time you listen and act on the messages coming through. You don’t get to choose the reward, but keep an eye out for them. They could be a wonderful, happy feeling washing over you, you may receive a small windfall, or a good friend will call you with some wonderful news – it could be anything!
Practise the steps below on a regular basis, and you may be surprised at how quickly your “intuition muscles” will grow!
- Find somewhere quiet where you can sit comfortably for a few minutes.
- Ask yourself two closed questions: 1. “Should I do A?” 2. “Should I do B?” A could be “go for a walk”, and B could be “go for a run”, for example. Whatever you ask, it must be something you can do right now so don’t ask something that you can’t act on right away!
- As you ask yourself each of these questions, be very aware of how each option makes you feel. One of them will feel “lighter” than the other. It’ll be like a “pull” in the direction it wants you to go. If you know how to muscle test, this may be another way to test whether you’re receiving the correct answer. Either way, you should feel a difference in how you feel after asking yourself each question.
- Once you have your answer, go with with whatever your little voice or intuition was telling you and do it right away – no procrastinating!
- Once you have listened to your intuition, keep an eye out for your reward – it’s on its way!
How do I apply this process to manifestation?
Once you’ve trained your “intuition muscle”, this becomes an easy one! Let’s say you’ve just received a huge, unexpected bill and you have no savings and no way of making the money in your job to pay this bill.
At this point you ask, “What can I do to get the money to pay for this?” Then allow the Universe to deliver the answer to you.
Keep an eye out for random thoughts or messages coming into your head. These messages may seem random or completely unrelated to the problem, but it’s very possible the Universe is trying to help you manifest the money to pay that bill, so you must listen and be prepared to act right away!
I cannot express enough how powerful this skill is, because once you’ve learned to tune into your intuition and begin to act on the messages you’re receiving, you’re really going to understand the power you now have in your hands!
