Let’s face it… we all want to be happy, right? For some, happiness isn’t something that comes easily, so today I hope to help those people…
People don’t desire a new home, a new car, extra money or anything else for those things. They want them because of how those things will make them feel.
These feelings are what we are going to tap into today.
This morning I received some advice from my guides, which has inspired this post today. Here’s what they told me:
“Be present and enjoy every moment of the present. Show appreciation for all aspects of the present, as much as you can. Stop yourself throughout the day and appreciate what you see and feel in that moment. Find joy in every little aspect.”
If you’re feeling anxious right now, you’re not present. Instead, you’re focused on something that may or may not happen in the future. If you’re feeling sad about something that happened before this very moment, you’re focused on the past.
So the message from my guides is a message I’ve heard from other sources before, and it’s an important one, and that is to stay present. Stay right now in this moment and focus on that.
What is good about this moment? What do you appreciate about it? Is there anything around you that is pleasing to the eye? It could be something in nature, or even a nice jacket the person near you happens to be wearing. Or it could be the watch you’re wearing. It doesn’t matter what it is, as long as you focus your appreciation on it right this very moment, and really get into that wonderful feeling.
When I’m at home, I love to look out at the many trees that surround our property, admiring how tall and beautiful they are, and pondering the thousands of little critters that make the trees their homes. I absolutely love the sound of the wind blowing through their leaves too – it’s so relaxing!
When I’m in the city, I admire the trees scattered around (thankfully we do have trees in our city, and clearly I love trees!), a nice skirt the person in front of me is wearing, or how the reflection of the sun causes the river to sparkle. You know how much I love sparkles! 😉
So, starting today, you’re going to do this:
- If you find yourself worrying, feeling down, or feeling anxious, stop yourself and ask if you’re in the present moment (I’m betting the answer will be “no”)
- Look around you and find something to feel appreciation or joy for
- Repeat this process as many times as you need to – you will know when to stop because you will be feeling calm and happy again
So this my friends, is how to achieve happiness. Get present and appreciate what’s there. It sounds simple, and with a bit of practise, this will become second nature. Yay!
