2019 has been one of the most incredible years of my life! I have learned so much, I have been challenged, I have experienced life-changing events (including my marriage to the man of my dreams!), and I’ve begun to remember who I am!
Many people I know are talking about “leaving their struggles of 2019 behind”, but I am cherishing the struggles I’ve experienced this year, and I’ve endured these with my wonderful husband, Laurie, and we’ve stood by each other the whole way and it’s been a journey for sure!
The Butterfly
Long ago, a man came across the cocoon of a butterfly, where a small opening had appeared.
He sat and watched as the newly formed butterfly struggled to force its body through the opening.
The butterfly struggled for what seemed like hours, before the man decided to help. He took a pair of scissors and he snipped off the remaining bit of the cocoon so that the butterfly could emerge easily.
He continued to watch the butterfly, waiting for its wings to enlarge and expand to be able to support the body so it could fly away.
Unfortunately, this did not happen. In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of its days crawling around with a swollen body and shriveled up wings.
Although the man was attempting to be kind, what he had done instead, was prevent the butterfly’s struggle to emerge from the cocoon, which was needed in order to force fluid out of its body and into its wings, so it could eventually fly.
Sometimes struggles or contrasts are exactly what we need in our lives in order to grow, so I’m not leaving my struggles behind – I’m bringing them with me into 2020, where they can be the foundation for the wonderful things to come!
2020 is going to be an amazing year, I just know it! What is in store for me? Whatever I believe it is going to be!
What do you believe is in store for you in 2020?

To anyone that cares, the butterfly pictured here is a gorgeous piece I picked up today.
The butterfly signifies my past struggles and the fact that I have now found my wings. For others, it may signify the transformation they experience as they deal with struggles.
The butterfly is an incredible critter and we can learn a lot from them, and their ability to fly after transformation and struggle! xx
