It is often very difficult for a person with low self esteem to ask for help or support. But is important you do ask for it.
A person with low self esteem usually feels they don’t deserve the help, whereas a person with a healthy self esteem knows they deserve it, and they’re not afraid to ask for it! This in turn creates a feeling of wellbeing for them as they know they are not alone.
When asking for support from friends, ask them what they like about you and what they think you do well. Ask for a hug on occasion – this can sometimes make all the difference!
Your workplace can often have tools available to help you with your self esteem. If you feel comfortable doing so, ask your supervisor for help or advice. Ask for new projects or challenges to increase your sense of competence and achievement once the projects have been completed or the challenges met. Even your coworkers can be there to cheer you on!
Consider taking a class to learn a new skill. Remember, every achievement does a lot to help you improve your self esteem!
Of course, if the problem is too overwhelming and you feel you can’t deal with it on your own, then you really should speak to a professional therapist or counselor. This is really important because if it gets out of hand, who knows what could happen, and don’t you want to live a happy, carefree life??
Have a wonderful day, and remember to ask for that help and support!!
