Hey there! I don’t know about you, but I sometimes find myself in a little “funk”. I’m not sure if it’s hormonal, or just one of the ebbs and flows of life. Whatever it is, it doesn’t feel good to be feeling down.
So, many years ago now, I found myself in a pretty bad place emotionally, and I sought some help from a therapist. And what she told me is this: “Exercise is the best antidepressant…”
Ok…! So I started going for walks and to the gym, and I did start to feel better, so that’s a good thing, and about a year ago, my psychic told me I needed to get out of my head and to give yoga a go. Why? Because my body needs to move, and I am too much in my head and I need to learn to let go of stuff!
I’ve never done yoga before, but for a long time I’ve been interested in doing it, but of course I didn’t do anything about it for the longest time!
Last week I finally decided to follow her recommendation after I’d seen an advertisement for a program called Yoga Burn. It was relatively cheap (much cheaper than going to the local yoga studio), I could do it in the comfort of my own home (I wasn’t sure I felt comfortable doing yoga for the first time with a group of strangers), and as my life is so busy, I could do this whenever I wanted or had the time!
So I purchased the program and last night after work, I got stuck into the “Beginner Flow”, which I actually followed quite easily – yay! The movements were relatively easy and slow, and I had no trouble keeping up.
Afterwards I felt REALLY good. I felt:
- A sense of accomplishment – I’d FINALLY gotten off my butt and done this!
- Relaxed, like every muscle had been worked gently, and stretched.
- A sense of wellbeing – like I’d done something really healthy for my body – funk gone!
The next set of workouts are separated into Phases, the first of which has three different workouts in it, each one lasting around 45 minutes (which consists of 3 x 15 minute workouts). I plan to do these today or tomorrow, and will report back on how I feel afterwards!
So check out Yoga Burn – it may or may not be for you, but if you’re feeling down or in a funk, then this is definitely something worth giving a go!
