Take a risk every day

I am currently reading Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway by Susan Jeffers, and can’t believe I didn’t read it before!

I have come across some amazing strategies to overcome fear and I’m only into the first couple of chapters!

The best strategy so far is to take a risk that is outside of your comfort zone every day.

What this does is expand your comfort zone and therefore your confidence.

Now, these aren’t the type of risks that could get you arrested or hurt in any way, but more like asking for a pay rise, asking someone out on a date, taking up an offer to present to an audience if you’re afraid of public speaking, or buying a pair of shoes that cost a little more than you are usually prepared to pay. I suppose the options are endless!

What kinds of risks could you take each day to help you grow?

Sounds like a good book. I’ll check it out. I’m convinced that as people get older we become more fearful of failure or not knowing something we should. But, with the world changing so fast it’s best to embrace the unknown and take a step out of your comfort zone.

I totally agree with you Sarah and thank you so much for your comment.

I bought a recently-revised edition of the book at a local book store and I am sure you can get them from Amazon too.

It’s well worth the read! :)

I try to have a conversation with a stranger or with someone I havent spoken to in a while. I recently had a conversation with a young lady from Chicago of the telephone, She was calling me on busy and long story short that was two weeks ago and we have been speaking on the phone evey since. I steeped out of my comfort zone..

  4. Great idea Iman! Thank you so much for sharing what you do – so many people struggle to talk to strangers or just start a conversation in general, so that is definitely a good one to add to the list!

I have dealt with fear many times in my life. Growing up I could never please my mother. I am always afraid of making mistakes and someone making me feel bad. I will check out this book. I always try to please everyone but knowing that I can’t sometimes. Now I am learing when I make a mistake. We are not perfect and we do make mistakes in life. I try not to let people get to me anymore.

  6. Trudy, you’re right. You can’t always please everyone, and you’re not human if you don’t make mistakes from them.

The best thing you can do is learn from your mistakes and move foward. Once you can do this, you will begin to experience success in all areas of your life.

Thank you so much for your comment.
