Anger, hate, jealousy and selfishness
March 17, 2008
“I will waste not even a precious second today in anger or hate or jealousy or selfishness. I know that the seeds I sow I will harvest, because every action, good or bad, is always followed by an equal reaction. I will plant only good seeds this day.”
Og Mandino
I don’t know who Og Mandino is, but he/she is spot on! Holding on to such negative feelings only breed more negativity in your life.
Many feel that I should hate my former husband for the way he treated me over many years, but what’s the point? While he annoys me at times (although not so much lately), I choose to feel gratitude towards him. Why? Because if it weren’t for him, I wouldn’t have my beautiful 10 year old daughter. If it weren’t for him, I wouldn’t know how good I have it now. If it weren’t for him, I wouldn’t be living the wonderful life I now lead.
My children have a mother who is happy, loving and grateful for what she has. I am 100% positive that they’re much better off than if I were harbouring feelings of anger, hate, jealousy or selfishness.
I think that’s more than enough reason not to waste my energy on negative feelings.
Be grateful
March 10, 2008
“Plenty of people miss their share of happiness, not because they never found it, but because they didn’t stop to enjoy it.”
William Feather
1889-1981, Writer
This is another way of saying “stop and smell the roses”!
Appreciate and enjoy what you have!
There is nothing wrong with wanting more - this is how we grow - but you must be grateful for what you already have before you can receive more into your life…
Positive attitude
February 27, 2008
“A positive attitude is perhaps more important at home than anywhere else. As spouses and parents, one of our most vital roles is to help those we love feel good about themselves.”
Keith Harrell
Speaker and Author
I love this quote because helping those that you love to feel good about themselves is the greatest gift we could ever give them…
The Law of Attraction and your Health
February 26, 2008
I read an amazing story today about a young woman who was suffering from an incurable, potentially fatal heart condition.
She was devastated when she found out her heart was a ticking time bomb, and was terrified she would die young.
That was until she decided to apply the Law of Attraction. She made a conscious effort to ban any negative thoughts about her condition, and refused to let them enter her mind any more. Every night as she lie in bed, she would visualise her heart being strong and and rehearsed in her mind, her heart beating like it was supposed to. Then every morning she would say “Thank you for my strong, healthy heart” and would visualise the cardiologist telling her she was cured.
Another important thing she did was keep her affirmations and visualisations to herself for fear of disbelief or judgement.
When she went to her cardiologist for her usual checkup (4 months late because she wanted to make sure she gave her visualisations a fair shot first, to see if they would work), he was dumbfounded because he found no sign of her “incurable” condition.
AMAZING stuff!!
It’s a Miracle!
February 6, 2008

Today I am going to talk about something I asked one of my clients to try. She suffered from a lack of self confidence and was a single mother with a young daughter and wanted to "get out there" and meet someone new, but due to her lack of confidence, she didn’t know what to do.
One of the first things I asked her to do was to imagine that while she was sleeping, a miracle happened and all of her problems were gone, her goals were achieved and she was living the ultimate life. I then asked her to think about what she would notice was different once this miracle had occurred.
Her first reaction was that some of her "miracle" was already happening and that really surprised her. Next I asked her to choose a day over the following week in which to pretend the miracle had in fact happened and to live that day with that thought.
That day changed her life completely.
She told me that people were commenting on how great she looked. The funny thing was that she wasn’t wearing anything different and she never wore makeup, so that wasn’t it. She put it down to the fact that she was walking taller and smiling more.
To cut a long story short, her last email to me was one of gratitude. She was seeing someone and things were looking great in her life. It is amazing how trying just one little exercise completely changed her perception of life, and how that in turn actually changed her life. Interesting!
The Outcome of my Interview
February 2, 2008
What a week! Well I finally received a call on Wednesday and I didn’t get the job. I couldn’t believe it! I was so certain the job was mine. The reason I didn’t get the job was because they offered the position to a person late last year and that person turned the job down, but then they changed their mind. So that is who they gave it to.
So Wednesday was quite a frustrating day for me, although I figured that there was something better out there for me. And how right I was!
On Thursday morning I had a call from my previous employer, asking me if I’d be interested in a Business Analyst role with them. It meant I would be entitled to the usual perks that come with a Government job, and that would allow me time to concentrate on my business pursuits too! So of course I said YES!
I had my "interview" yesterday and was told I would be starting a week from Monday.
It is truly amazing how things work out…!
Website maintenance
January 26, 2008
I must apologise for the state of this website and the lack of posts lately. I have recently upgraded my hosting and transferring everything over turned out to be a lot harder than I thought. The links at the top of this page aren’t working and all of my images have "disappeared"! I will get onto fixing all that as soon as I can!
Now, back to my job interview! I was called back for a second interview, which was on Wednesday. That also went very well, and my references are still being checked (one was away so they’re calling them next week). Monday is a public holiday, and the recruiter I am dealing with has Tuesday off, so it’ll be at least Wednesday before I’ll hear anything!
This is teaching me all about patience…..!
My job interview experience
January 22, 2008
I had a job interview yesterday, and I must say it was the most enjoyable job interview I’ve ever had - EVER!
The lady conducting the interview was LOVELY and we got on really really well. We got on so well in fact, that I’ve been called back for a second interview. Yippee!
Tomorrow’s interview is going to be one of those much more formal type interviews. You know the type when they ask you questions like, "Tell me about a time when you…."? Yuk! I’m not great at this type of interview, but I’m pretty confident all the same. I will just be myself and carefully think of my answers before I say anything.
I’ll post an update afterwards!
Until then, have a great day!

Job interview tips - Final word
January 13, 2008

Phew! This is the last of my interview tips posts, and I hope I have helped someone out there to get that job they were hoping for.
My last tip is this:
Have fun and learn from your experience!
While the job hunting process is harrowing at times, you can learn a lot, not only about the job interview process, but about yourself too. Some interviewers offer post interview feedback. If it’s offered, take it - whether you got the job or not! The information you will gain from this feedback will be extremely valuable! Don’t argue any of the points they bring up and just accept the feedback for what it is. It was based on their impression of you, so will help you to see how you come across to others. Thank them for taking the time to give you feedback too.
Have a great day!

Interview tips - The actual interview
January 12, 2008
Here are some points to remember:
1. Don’t speak negatively about a past employer
2. Ensure you don’t interrupt during the course of the interview
3. Keep your answers short and to the point. Don’t ramble on, but don’t use one word answers either.
4. Maintain eye contact with the interviewer/s (avoid staring) and ensure you talk to both or all of them
5. Ask questions - prior to going to your interview, prepare some well-thought questions about the company or the position. You could ask who you would be reporting to, questions about the team you are joining or opportunities for advancement. Obviously you do not ask a question that was already answered by the interviewers (eg. Many will talk about the position prior to the start of the formal interview and may have already told you about who you would report to or about the team etc). Leave salary and benefits questions until after you have been offered the position.
6. Think carefully before accepting a drink. If you’re anything like me, your nerves may cause you to choke on it, or worse, spill it!
7. SMILE when appropriate, throughout the interview.
